World Champion Chef Makes Pizza by the Slice at Pizza+
Ahead of this year's Pizza Cup and Festival, we are serving up bite-sized details about this year's participants in a series we call Pizza Mania. Today we introduce Pizza+.
After opening in 2012, making it to the Elite 8 in our 2014 Pizza Cup, and then the Sweet 16 in 2015, Pizza+ is a trusted source for thin-crust pizza (to be purchased by the pie or the slice) overseen by masterchef Fabrizio Montori, winner of the much-coveted title of Champion Pizza Maker at the World Pizza Games (worldpizzachampions.com). Since 2012, the restaurant has expanded to four locations: Shuangjing, Chaoyang Park, Dongzhimen, and Jiuxianqiao, and prides itself on importing all ingredients from Italy.
Forest Pizza
The Forest Pizza is Pizza+'s most popular pizza, topped with mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, sausage, truffle cream, and walnuts, and you could say the beginning of their doughy journey, winning the 2011 Pizza World Championship (2011 Pizza Games). Xiaobo, Pizza+'s operations manager, told us that the Forest Pizza goes especially well with all Italian Birradamare craft beers, which are also available at their outlets. And for those who feel guilty about indulging in the occassional slice, Xiaobo goes on to say that, “you don’t need to worry about working out because our pizza is made entirely from healthy Italian ingredients and has a surprisingly low calorific content.”

Pizza+'s 'za philosophy is: “we make real Italian pizza. Our Italian boss owns another company involved in international trading, so we are able to import all our main ingredients ourselves: tomato sauce, olive oil, truffle cream, and more. Believe it or not, we even use Italian imported water, Sparea, to make our pizza dough. Also, we sell pizza by the slice. In Italy, the pizza is sold by the slice, thus you can choose several different flavors and slices in one meal. People are not limited to choosing one entire pizza.”
Sea World Pizza
Not ones to rest on their laurels, the pizza masters at Pizza+ have recently put together a new pizza called the Sea World, a combination of mozzarella cheese, arugula, cherry tomatoes, and smoked salmon, finished off with a balsamic vinegar glaze.
This year, during the Pizza Cup, Pizza+ will offer a number of special deals on their pizzas: get two slices of premium pizza, one salad, and one soft drink for RMB 49 or two slices of value pizza, one salad, and one soft drink for RMB 29. Also, keep a look out for Pizza+'s QR code at our Pizza Fest, which can be scanned for redeemable coupons to be used at their restaurants following the event.
